Multiple Sclerosis

Define

Multiple Sclerosis, commonly referred to as MS, is an autoimmune disorder that affects the nervous system. MS is a result of the body’s natural immune system attacking its own nerves by destroying the myelin sheath, which is a protective substance that layers the outside of nerves in the central nervous system. This disrupts the ability of the nerves to properly transmit signals throughout the body. Those diagnosed with MS suffer from numbness in the limbs, physical weakness and fatigue, dizziness, double vision, lack of coordination, loss of bladder control and even partial or complete loss of vision.
