It’s no secret that oxygen is essential for human life, but far fewer people are aware that this element can support enhanced healing. Oxygen treatments are utilized by medical professionals for the treatment of a wide array of health conditions. Could you benefit from hyperbaric chamber treatment?
Our Brentwood Location’s Hyperbaric Oxygen Chamber
What Is Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy?
When people step out for a breath of fresh air, just 21 percent of what they breathe in is actually oxygen. Once inhaled, that oxygen is carried throughout the body by red blood cells. With hyperbaric oxygen therapy, patients are placed in a chamber where the atmospheric pressure is increased and provided with 100 percent oxygen. As a result, oxygen infiltrates your body, skin, tissues, and fluids! This allows it to saturate tissues and better support the body’s natural healing processes.
How Does Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Help With Healing?
The additional oxygen delivered via hyerbaric chamber treatment can significantly enhance
the healing process. Access to extra oxygen speeds the healing of damaged tissues, reduces inflammation, aids white blood cells’ efforts to kill bacteria, counteracts hypoxia in tissues by promoting oxygenation, decreases lactic acid levels, fosters the growth of new blood vessels and capillaries, increases the number of stem cells circulating (everyone has stem cells!), supports nerve growth in the brain, and slows the growth of cancer cells.
What Conditions Can Benefit From Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy?
This powerful treatment can be used alone or in conjunction with other therapies to treat a wide range of conditions, including:
- Diabetic and other slow-healing wounds
- Radiation tissue injuries
- Soft tissue infections
- Traumatic brain injuries
- Crush injuries and other traumatic ischemias
- Decompression sickness
- Carbon monoxide poisonings
- Sports injuries
- Cerebral palsy
- Multiple sclerosis
- Surgical recoveries
- Thermal burns
Our Jackson, TN clinic’s Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Chamber
What Is a Hyperbaric Chamber Treatment Like?
Hyperbaric oxygen therapy is a prescription medical treatment, so when you undergo it, you will be carefully monitored by a medical professional throughout the session. For safety reasons, only cotton clothing may be worn in the chamber, and items like cosmetics, perfumes, deodorants and jewelry are not allowed. After you enter the chamber, the atmospheric pressure will be slowly raised to the prescribed level. You may feel increased pressure in your ears. If necessary, the chamber operator will offer guidance on relieving it. Once the correct atmospheric pressure is reached, you are free to relax and simply breathe in the additional oxygen. As the session comes to a close, the chamber operator will gradually reduce the pressure inside the chamber. The length and frequency of treatments will vary depending on your health and the nature of the condition being treated.

We love hearing from our patients, staying involved in their health & wellness, and knowing treatments come to fruition. Thank You for giving us the opportunity to educate and provide treatment with Regenerative Medicine, and thank you for the feedback. We are always glad to hear back from our patients and community.
This is a very over-due (but no less heartfelt) thank you for all you did to help our daughter Mary. The pain she dealt with during her sophomore year of college was almost unbearable at times. The prescription meds she was given by her traditional physicians provided very little relief from her pain, and threw her into a pit of depression. She decided on her own to stop the meds. When she came home for Spring Break, we actually questioned whether she would be able to return to school. Her pain seemed to be stealing her lifelong hopes and dreams.
We had never even heard of PRP, but after your explanation, we knew we had to give it a try. It was a lot for our then 19-yr-old to handle, but shortly after the treatment we began to see results! Mary was soon back to her “old self” and able to resume her busy college schedule. (We encouraged her to come speak to you, but she is so timid at times!) As Parents, we saw the change in her as the miracle it truly was! Thank you, Dr. Schmidt, for giving our daughter her life back! We are forever grateful!

P.S. – In 2017 Mary Graduated from college with honors and is now in PT school at UTHSC, Memphis!
What is Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy?
Hormones are responsible for some of the most important functions of the body like energy, muscle tone, quality of sleep, motivation, mental clarity, libido, and overall mood. Studies have shown, balanced hormones are essential for good health and disease prevention as we age. Bio-Identical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) optimizes hormone levels with tiny pellets under the skin that release bio-identical estrogen and/or testosterone continuously through the bloodstream.
Patients have reported:
• Regained energy, muscle strength and a greater ability to lose weight.
• Increased mental clarity and feel younger and happier again.
• Improved quality of life while preventing age-related illness.
Why Should Women Consider BHRT?
Estrogen is the most important hormone for women; the loss of estrogen puts her at an increased risk for osteoporosis, heart disease, colon cancer, Alzheimer’s disease, impaired vision and Parkinson’s disease. The longer a woman is without estrogen, the greater her risk for serious health consequences.
Estrogen receptors are in varying organs throughout the body which is why hormonal imbalances produce a variety of symptoms such as skin elasticity, moodiness, bone shrinkage and cognitive decline. Estrogen is also thought to be a natural antidepressant and mood stabilizer. This is noticeable when estrogen levels rise in the first week of menses, their overall effect is to increase the amount of serotonin available to the brain’s nerve cells leading to an increase in mood.
The brain needs normal amounts of testosterone in balance with estrogen to produce serotonin which supports emotional balance. Furthermore, the deficiency or imbalance of testosterone can lead to muscle atrophy, osteopenia, osteoporosis and pain in the muscles and joints.
Why Should Men Consider BHRT?
Studies have shown that men begin losing testosterone at a rate of 3% to 10% per year beginning at age 30. Medical research has defined the male equivalent to menopause as andropause. Symptoms of testosterone deficiency in men may include fatigue, lack of mental clarity, loss of libido, and difficulty achieving or sustaining an erection.
Hormonal treatments for men can be expensive, require daily consumption and in many cases need to be carefully timed with their partner’s sexual needs. Bio-identical hormone pellet therapy is the only method of testosterone treatment that gives sustained and consistent testosterone levels throughout the day for four to six months without any drastic “roller coaster” blood testosterone levels.
Is BHRT Therapy for you?
If you or someone you know is experiencing symptoms of hormone imbalances, such as difficulty sleeping, moody, anxious, depressed, decreased muscle strength, and reduced sexual desire, he or she might be a candidate for hormone replacement therapy.
