Ankle Pain

Define

The ankle is a critical joint and consists of cartilage, tendons, ligaments and muscles. This delicate design combined with the daily stress from walking, running and lifting makes the ankle a highly injury prone area. Ankle sprains comprise 85% of all ankle pain cases, but there are other causes, such as Rheumatoid Arthritis, Tendinitis, Osteoarthritis and Gout. Swelling, numbness, tingling, burning and weakness often accompany ankle pain. Being overweight and not stretching out properly before exercise can exacerbate the risk of ankle injury.
